Russian Rummy Rules

Gin Rummy

Eаch player takes part in this game as an individual. The number of players maybe not less then 3 and not more then 8. You.ll need one pack of cards (with the jokers) for every pair of people if you have even number of players, and if the number of players is odd, then round up. The winner of the game will be a player who’ll have the lowest score at the end of the last hand.

Books & Straights:

A book is 3 cards of a kind. For example, 3 Queens, 3 Aces, 3 4.s, etc. Different suits will also do.

A straight is 4 cards of one suit, all in a numerical order (manyfold decks will be the best here).
(You may put the ace on the top or the bottom, but it is not possible to go both ways from an ace. It must be the last card in a straight.)

Hands:

2 Books
1 Straight
2 Books and 1 Straight
3 Books
2 Straights and 1 Book (no discard when you lay down)

Score:

Jokers 25 pts.
Aces 15 pts.
Face cards & 10.s 10 pts.
Other cards 5 pts.

Shuffle the packs and deal 13 cards to each player. Put the rest of cards face down in the middle as the “draw pile”. When everyone has classified their hand, turn the head card face up and place it after the “draw pile” in order to start the “discard pile”.

The person who occupies the room to the left of the dealer starts to play. He/she need to pull one card from the head of the “draw pile” or the head of the “discard pile”. Two ways are possible. Players may ask for the head card of the “discard pile” with the words “I want it”, but the player who leads at that time has control of the head card on the discard pile. If the person who leads the play is going take the card, they take it themselves. If they are not going to take, then the person who was the first to ask for it gains the card, but he/she also must take a punishment card from the head of the “draw pile”. The player who is next in turn takes the orther card from the head of the “draw pile”.

The player who is next in turn discards a card on the head of the “discard pile” and then the person to the left of them leads the play. It must be noted that if a card on the discard pile has been handed on once, it is not available one more time. Play goes on around the table. The hand comes to an end when one person gets rid of all their cards. This cards then go to their hand count against them.
The hands are done in order. First needs 2 books.

A person may put down when 2 books are with them, but just at the time of their turn. They need to put them on the table with face up. A person may put down just such amount of books or straights that is raquired for this very hand, not more, but when they have placed theirs down, they may continue play on others’ books and straights’ again but at the time of their own turn.

Jokers are unrestricted and it is possible to use them as a substitute for any card. If a Joker is placed on the table, other players may displace the Joker with the suitable card, but there are several limitations. It can be done immediately just during their turn and if they have not yet put down their books and/or straights for that hand. In order to be in time they must do it very quickly. When a person has put down, they have a chance to displace a Joker and put it on smbd’s else’s cards that are face up on the table if they are sure that it will play a role in getting rid of other cards. Again, it is possible to undertake just during their turn. Players go on to pull one card and discard one card each time when it is their turn. The aim is to get rid of all the cards.

So, if a player has gotten rid of all their cards by placing them on the table or by discarding their last card, it means that a hand is over and the rest players count the points of the cards that are still in their hands. It must be noted that the cards which have been placed face up on the table mustn’t be counted. Remember that the winner has the less score!

Play continues with each next hand.

There is one particular rule for the last hand. You may place down your straights and book just when you have every card in place and can put down without a discard. In the last hand only one person will put down and the rest players must count all the cards in their hand and affix the sum to their score.
